Green burial is available locally through the City of Campbell River’s municipal cemetery system. The designated green burial area is at Elk Falls Cemetery.

The City of Campbell River operates the cemeteries.
The City of Campbell River operates two municipal cemeteries: Elk Falls Cemetery, on Highway 28, and Campbell River Cemetery, on Highway 19. The Mayor and Council act as trustees, and the City is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining both.
Its Cemetery Management Bylaw gives the City the right to designate areas within a cemetery for green burial. All arrangements, bookings and payments for either cemetery are handled by the City at the Dogwood Operations Centre, 385 S. Dogwood Street, Monday to Friday.

Where the green burial area is
At Elk Falls Cemetery.
There is a designated green burial area at Elk Falls Cemetery, and green burial plots are currently available for purchase.
Elk Falls Cemetery is the City’s municipal cemetery. It is not the same as Elk Falls Crematorium, which is a separate, privately operated business located at the cemetery site. The crematorium does not operate the cemetery or the green burial area.
The existence of the green burial area at Elk Falls, and current plot availability, are confirmed by And Grace Too. The City documents this site draws on authorise green burial “within a City cemetery” but do not name the location; the section’s exact place within the cemetery, its size and its capacity should be confirmed directly with the City.

Whether any other cemetery in the Campbell River area — private, church, or otherwise — offers green or shroud burial has not been confirmed. Only the City of Campbell River’s municipal cemetery system is documented here. Green burial grounds elsewhere on Vancouver Island are also outside what this site currently covers.
